Some of his notable quotes during the controversial visit included some that were of the nonsensical variety, USA Today reported.

After one of West's 10-minute sermon-style speeches, the president took over, complimenting the rapper for being a "smart cookie".

The club shared an image of the typically straight faced Kanye West, with the caption: 'The worldwide break has got us like'. He also gave some love to first daughter Ivanka Trump.

"They tried to scare me to not wear this hat", West said, referring to the "Make America Great Again" hat that he wore to the meeting.

In the Oval Office on Thursday, West - who has a new album coming out - again flirted with the idea of a presidential run, but "only after 2024".

"There were people who said Trump would never win", West said in the interview.

The rapper had been invited to lunch to discuss prison reform but turned what would ordinarily have been a staid White House photo-op into what must have been one of the most unusual encounters in the Oval Office's storied history.

The topics for the meeting were reportedly supposed to include "manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago", White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said before the meeting, according to E!

While the concept of a hydrogen plane is exciting, the technology isn't quite there yet in terms of powering such a large aircraft as Air Force One.

After West finished speaking, Trump, who is known for his own stream-of consciousness speaking style, said, "I tell you what - that was pretty impressive".

West is married to reality television star Kim Kardashian West, who pushed Trump to grant a pardon for a drug offender this year.

Although Trump said West "can speak for me anytime he wants", he looked more than ready to end the episode.

"What I need "Saturday Night Live" to improve on or the liberals to improve on", West said, "is if he don't look good, we don't look good".

At the lunch, West will be accompanied by black National Football League legend Jim Brown.

West isn't the only one in his family to meet with the president over political issues.

"Trump is on his hero's journey right now", West said, tossing out an expletive to describe himself.

Kanye said the red MAGA baseball cap "made me feel like Superman", before telling Mr Trump: "You made a Superman cape for me".

"I felt that I knew people who voted for Trump that were celebrities that were scared to say that they liked him", he said.

Around that same time, Kanye explained that he made his widely publicized comments about former U.S. President George W. Bush not caring about Black people because he was programmed to do so.
