The numbers were 4, 24, 46, 61, 70 and Mega Ball 7.

Tuesday's drawing could eclipse the largest ever Mega Millions jackpot, a $656 million prize from 2012, according to Mega Millions.

The estimated Mega Millions $548 million prize would be the largest jackpot in more than nine months. Players who buy $2 tickets face extremely long odds, with a one in 302.5 million chance of matching all six numbers.

The prize money increased by $78 million when no one won Tuesday's drawing.

That ticket is worth $3 million. Most winners opt for cash, which for Friday night's drawing would be an estimated $309 million.

The winning ticket for the historic $1.58 billion Powerball jackpot in January 2016 was drawn in Florida.

The Mega Millions jackpot is approaching $470 million. Friday's jackpot is likely to beat the third-highest total of $540 million from July 2016, depending on ticket sales. The odds of winning are about 300 million-to-1.
