CD's Willem Ludick saw 43 runs conceded from one over of his against ND in Hamilton on Wednesday

This broke the record for the most runs conceded in an over in the history of List A cricket. The previous record was held by Zimbabwe national Elton Chigumbura who had smoked Alauddin Babu, a Bangladesh first-class cricketer, for 39 runs in an over during a Dhaka Premier League match in 2013. Two waist-high no-balls were then slammed over the deep square and deep midwicket fence respectively followed by a straight six down the ground.

Willie Ludick of Notherns during day 4 of the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week at PBHS Abernethy Oval between Northerns vs Eastern Province on December 20, 2014 in Pretoria, South Africa.

New Zealand pair Joe Carter and Brett Hampton shattered the records by smashing a mind-boggling 43 runs in an over.

The most runs conceded in an over in worldwide cricket is 36 - a six from every ball - which has happened in both limited-overs formats, and twice in first-class cricket but never (yet) in a Test match.

Hampton started the massacre, first getting a lucky edge off a full delivery that went past the left of the diving keeper to a boundary. Ludick's figures changed drastically after this over as it suddenly changed from 9-0-42-1 to 10-0-85-1.

Hampton was eventually dismissed for 95 from 66 balls in the 47th over, while Carter, who scored his maiden One-Day century, remained unbeaten on 102 from 77 balls, as Northern Districts finished on 313-7 in 50 overs.

Same went for ball three. The stand was a Northern Districts record for the sixth wicket, surpassing the 150 set by BJ Watling and Peter McGlashan.
