Several Injured In Shooting At Bar In Southern California, Says Police

There has been a mass shooting at a Californian bar, according to USA media reports.

Multiple people were reportedly injured after at least one gunman opened fire at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California, late Wednesday.

The Ventura country fire department tweeted that they were responding to a report of shooting in the city of Thousand Oaks in South California.

He could not immediately provide information on the extent of the victims' injuries.

Firefighters and first responders have arrived on scene and the Ventura County Sheriff's Office is working to secure the scene.

Police also said it was an ongoing incident with an active shooter on spot.

The Times reports that there were multiple reports of shots fired and people hit.

The attack has been upgraded to a level 2 mass casualty incident indicating that there are between 10 to 20 injured victims.

Witness John Hedge told ABC's 13WLOS TV station that said he saw a suspect throwing smoke bombs into the front of the restaurant.

Witnesses said they had spoken to friends who escaped the shooting, which took place during a popular student night at the bar.

Authorities are still treating it as active shooter scene and have urged the public to avoid the area.
