Xiaomi Releases AirDots Wireless Earbuds With Bluetooth 5.0

The $29 AirDots are wireless Bluetooth earbuds that thankfully don't look similar to Apple's AirPods but offer the same level of functionality. But one doubt I'm going to have about this device is the fact that it might not be able to rival the Apple AirPods because of the price range....well that's not the conclusion.

Xiaomi also made the AirDots button-less by providing a touch panel on the exterior surface to control volume, answer calls, or mute them in the middle of the conversation by tapping on the buds twice, for instance. Now, new headphones are available only in the Chinese market. Notably, the version that will go for sale in China at the earliest will be the AirDots Youth Edition. The AirDots earphones come with Bluetooth v5.0 support. Users can also put the earphones into the case to charge them without having to use an external charging source. Moreover, if the earbuds are powered on, keeping them inside the case powers them off automatically.

The AirDots Youth Edition will also be supporting two-way wake-ups and with the aggressive pricing from Xiaomi, it will be interesting how it will be competing with other wireless headsets in the market. It is available for pre-order in China on Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin, Tmall, Jingdong, and Suning. They connect to handsets using the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technology, meaning they use less power and should have a more stable connection than devices that use older Bluetooth technology, according to a Next Web report. The company claims that the earphones can deliver up to four hours of continuous music playback on a single charge.
