"Holding hands with my mama", she sang, through tears. "Not long after, she laughed as she sang, "'Cause her name is Ari / And I'm so good with that".

On Tuesday, Ariana teased the performance on her Instagram, tagging herself as well as backup singers Victoria Monet and Tayla Parx as The First Wives Club stars Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton, respectively, in a group photo.

The 25-year-old singer took to Twitter on Wednesday to lament the message behind her 2018 song, "No Tears Left to Cry".

But she ran into some trouble dancing around the set, which was made to look like a wedding reception, stumbling when she stepped down from a chair. "Only wanna do it once, real bad / Gon" make that shit last / God forbid something happens / Least this song is a smash". Grande, who was recently named Billboard's Woman of the Year, later tweeted that her exes "heard it before it came out". But, clearly not anxious about having a very human, silly moment during a performance, since she carried on singing and couldn't stop from laughing as she sang.

"Thank you for being here".

What we love most about this video is that Ariana could have totally redone the whole thing, but chose not to. "He didn't find out about Ariana's song until later, and that didn't change what he said on 'Weekend Update'".

Many fans think the release was a pre-emptive strike as she prepared for whatever Davidson might say on the first "SNL" back on the air since their highly-publicized breakup. "He is supposed to be here".
