Lionel Messi has travelled with the Barcelona squad to take on Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday despite not having "the medical all-clear" after fracturing his arm.

The 21-year-old scored nearly instantly but Mauro Icardi cancelled it out with a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw. "There was a lot of unjust [criticism] about the players that played in the cup".

"Ronaldo told me that if we equalled Real Madrid's offer then he would choose Barcelona, but it was a huge offer and we could not make such a big investment for a player who had left in that way", he said in an interview with Goal. "I did not cry, but I was very excited to have scored, scoring at San Siro is unforgettable", he told Catalunya Radio.

"His tears were emotional", Sergio Busquets said.

"He's a great kid".

"It was 15:00 and we justifiably made a decision to go out to eat and celebrate Ronaldo's renewal, and then return to the office and sign the agreement we had reached".

As such, there were cathartic scenes when, just two minutes after coming on against Inter, Malcom put a stylish finish to a counter-attack manoeuvre that began deep inside Barca's own penalty area... "Making my debut in the Champions League and scoring will stay in my memory forever - I will celebrate it with my family tonight".

"We didn't give up after they scored and fortunately the ball bounced to me. there was a bit of luck that the ball arrived there".

Barca were on the front foot from kick-off and Ousmane Dembele forced Handanovic into the first of a series of fine saves with a sharp curling strike just a minute into the game.

The more high-profile the opponent, the better Barcelona have played. "Every day I train to show the quality I can add to the team".
