"I love Prince William, I've known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other".

"If you're first up, you have to be more formal on such an occasion", she explained, according to E!

Emma Thompson didn't hold anything back (including her lips) when she came face-to-face with Prince William. "He said, "This day isn't about me, it's about you".

She said: "I'd like to inspire others and empower others to believe in themselves, especially people with Down's syndrome".

Thompson has always been a friend of Prince Charles and his boys.

The BBC notes that Dame Emma Thompson (henceforth known as two-time Academy Award victor Dame Emma Thompson) wore a tailored Stella McCartney tuxedo to the event, accessorizing with a pin that read "Equal Pay" and white sneakers.

Thompson was named for the female equivalent of a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in June.

"This is a very rich country with hundreds of thousands of children who don't get enough to eat", she added.

"They send you a letter saying, 'Will you accept it?' You can choose not to. Or you can be like me and think, 'Hmmm, it's gonna be a really nice badge'".

Thompson's husband, actor and producer Greg Wise, 31-year-old son Tindyebwa and 18-year-old daughter Gaia attended the ceremony.
