- A Florida man was injured after jumping into a crocodile pit at an alligator park in St. Augustine.

Hatfield can be seen on the video entering the alligator farm at around 7:45 p.m, where officials said he caused more than $5,000-worth of damage to the farm, according to police. While officers were driving to the hospital, a second report was received about an incident at the alligator farm.

St. Augustine police said a resident on Holly Lane called Tuesday morning to report a suspicious person hiding in the bushes in just his boxer shorts. Hatfield then scrambles out of the water, leaving behind a trail of blood.

And when he gets out, he'll be facing charges for burglary and criminal mischief. "In our 125-year history, this is the first time anyone has tried to go swimming with the crocodiles". Police said the man was bitten by a crocodile and sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his feet and leg. But when he sits on the bank of the pool, the "crocodile locks onto his left foot". The man had to get through several barriers to gain access to the crocodiles.

"I would think he's on some sort of drugs", Bruggen said. Police responded and took Hatfield into custody, authorities said.

The man is reportedly being treated in hospital and is in a stable condition.
