White House defends decision to revoke access of CNN's Jim Acosta

"The White House should immediately reinstate Jim Acosta's press pass, and refrain from punishing reporters by revoking their access - that's not how a free press works".

The White House yanked press credentials from Acosta (above right) after his controversial conduct during the fiery briefing. You can nearly feel the republic devolving to its lowest common denominator: narcissists preening before the cameras and beating their chests in self-righteous fury.

That's not how the media portrayed the event, of course.

CNN's other White House reporters and producers have been unaffected by the action against Acosta.

Trump responded: "What a stupid question that is".

CNN correspondent Jim Acosta ended up having his press pass revoked by the White House after he refused to hand over a mic to an intern while asking a question to Trump during a press conference. "Whether it was me, or Ronald Reagan or anybody else, he would have done the same thing", the president said. PS: J immy Kimmel called for Sanders to be fired. "She shouldn't be. You've got to treat the White House and the office of the presidency with respect". The clip was initially shared by InfoWars' Paul Joseph Watson and then picked up by the White House.

Acosta and Trump have sparred numerous times, with neither man hiding their contempt for each other.

Acosta said in a tweet late on Wednesday he had been denied entry into the White House by the Secret Service.

If by "respect" Trump means the type of questions that are asked and the way they are asked, the White House is on shaky legal footing.

More importantly, self-aggrandizing harangues that turn the reporter into the story are not a legitimate form of journalism. As the Society of Professional Journalists warns, "injecting oneself into the story or creating news events for coverage is not objective reporting, and it ultimately calls into question the ability of a journalist to be independent, which can damage credibility".

Mr Acosta's press pass was later cancelled amid accusations that he "placed his hands" on the intern.

"At the end of the day it was part of the American process, it was part of what our Founding Fathers put in place for the accountability of the president of the United States", she said. Acosta chose to ask Trump why he seemingly "demonized" the immigrants traveling to the American border at the moment.

Waving his finger, Trump berated him.

"I don't think he's a smart person, but he's got a loud voice", Mr. Trump said of the journalist.

"You better go arrest her for battery", McCain responded facetiously.

"When you say 'doctored, ' you're a dishonest guy", Trump told the reporter on November 9. "He apparently wants to goad Donald Trump into a confrontation". But the network should tread carefully.
