Credit: Tom's GuideLate yesterday (Nov. 9), Apple posted a support note confirming that the screens some of iPhone X models either aren't responsive to touch or may respond intermittently.

A working iPhone X display. In some instances, the iPhone screen acts as if it's been touched, even when it hasn't - a behavior dubbed "ghost touch" by some iPhone X users.

The new Apple iPhone X display module replacement program details two potential issues with the phone's display: it may either respond to touches that never happened or fail to respond to touches that did happen.

The replacement program is only for the iPhone X and doesn't include the new iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. The servicing is done through Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. "13-inch MacBook Pro units with affected drives were sold between June 2017 and June 2018".

If your iPhone X's screen is, say, cracked, and it prevents the fix from being performed without further damage, it's highly likely you will need to get that fixed first.

If your iPhone X is experiencing this issue, Apple says it will replace the display module at no cost through its official retail stores or via an Authorized Service Provider.

Apple also said a "limited number" of 13-inch MacBook Pros have "an issue that may result in data loss and failure of the drive".

Apple typically offers an easy way to identify whether you may have the faulty part, such as with a range of serial numbers, though it didn't this time. Yeah? Because you might be eligible for a free screen replacement from Apple.
