They're also seeking to stop any more Sabrina from being distributed or reproduced as long as it has their Baphomet included.

Baphomet is part of its campaign to "complement and contrast" a Ten Commandments monument in Oklahoma City on the grounds of religious freedom.

The suit, which names both Netflix and the show's production company, Warner Bros., as defendants, was filed in NY federal court on Thursday.

In the series Sabrina Spellman attends The Academy of Unseen Arts where there is a statue of Baphomet. "These original expressions are misappropriated through use of an obvious copy which is featured prominently throughout the Sabrina Series and the central focal point of the school in the Sabrina Series which represents evil antagonists".

A one-ton, 7-foot (2.13-m) bronze statue of Baphomet - a goat-headed winged deity that has been associated with Satanism and the occult - is displayed by the Satanic Temple during its opening in Salem, Massachusetts, U.S. September 22, 2016.

Their website states the group strives "to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice." .

It has since ended up in Detroit, and has become "a central icon" for satanists, TST co-founder Lucien Greaves told CNBC.

Both Warner Brothers and Netflix declined comment in emails to CBC, citing pending litigation.

The temple has gained a certain amount of publicity for those efforts, and now alleges that the producers of "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" are profiting from its work.

The temple objected to the use of the statue's likeness in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which features a much darker portrayal of the teenage half-human, half-witch immortalized decades ago in Archie comics.
