Game of Thrones season 3 trailer

The eight season of the popular fantasy drama will premiere in April, nearly two years after season seven. Watch the first teaser below.

As the final season of HBO's hit fantasy epic Game of Thrones approaches, the team behind the show recently released a minute long trailer detailing the clash between ice and fire. It doesn't contain any new footage, so those looking to avoid spoilers don't have anything to worry about.

The teaser was first shown at a "Game of Thrones" panel at Comic Con Experience (CCXP) in Brazil. Meeting in the middle on the board, ice and fire finally meet. In the season finale past year, the Night King rode on the undead dragon Viserion as he broke down a section of the wall with the White Walker army marching down south.

On the one hand, there is dramatic visualization of the fact that fire - presumably Daenerys' dragon fire - must fight the icy forces of the White Walkers.

The final season of the HBO drama s perhaps the most eagerly awaited finale in television history so they literally could have put out anything - anything at all - and people would have leapt to all kinds of conclusions.

Another fun factoid: The scripts also reveal at one point there was a plan for the White Walkers to communicate in a special language. The network has not released an official premiere date yet for season eight.
