Mercedes-Benz CLA revealed

The wraps have come off the second generation of Mercedes' compact saloon, the CLA, at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Similarly, the C-Class sedan and the CLA continued to remain on top of Mercedes-Benz customer preference, with the E-Class breaking a new record in the mentioned period.

The new CLA measures 4 688 mm long and 1 830 mm wide (increases over the original of 48 mm and 53 mm, respectively), while its height has been cut two millimetres to 1 439 mm. Mercedes even claims that new CLA is one of the most engaging compact auto lineup till date.

The CLA is fitted with a decoupled multi-link rear suspension system, and adaptive damping is optional. Wheel sizes will range from 16 to 19 inches.

Also worth noting on the CLA are its new set of taillights and redesigned rear bumper that further highlight the car's sporiter character.

On that note, the CLA is a good 139mm longer and 7mm lower than the A-Class sedan, while riding on the same 2729mm wheelbase, and in practical terms it offers similar headroom in the front but 36mm less in the back thanks to that sloping roofline, while the boot actually swallows 40 litres more (460).

Fans of the Mercedes-Benz GLS has been waiting for Mercedes to upgrade their GLS model and here is what we know what about the upcoming 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS model.

New technology will be carried over from the A-Class such as the Mercedes MBUX operating system including digital instruments and touch screen infotainment functions. The dashboard features a centrally mounted touchscreen and no cowl, with a "trench" splitting out the lower section.

Like the A-Class hatch, the CLA can be equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety features to match the latest S-Class limousine with automated emergency braking and lane keeping assistance as standard on every model, while adaptive cruise control that is linked to Global Positioning System sat nav data and has semi-autonomous functionality in heavy traffic, as well as multi beam LED headlights, will also available.

The second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA has finally revealed itself to the world, looking more like a "CLS junior" than ever.

In Europe, Mercedes sold 933,697 passenger cars, 2.3% fewer than in 2017.

Mercedes performance arm AMG is also working on a range-topping CLA 45 model, featuring the most highly tuned, 421hp version of the M260 2.0-litre petrol engine.
