Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has no remaining cancer, Supreme Court announces

Ginsburg, who took the unprecedented step of attacking Trump as a candidate, is unlikely to step down willingly, even if incapacitated, meaning the seat would become open only upon her death. Ginsburg broke three ribs in a fall in November, which led to doctors' discovery of the lung nodules.

This is RBG's third bout with cancer after receiving treatment for colon cancer in 2000 and pancreatic cancer 10 years later. "Her recovery from surgery is on track", read a statement from a Supreme Court spokesperson.

If Ginsburg retires in the near future, Trump will have his third opportunity to nominate a Supreme Court justice during his first term in office - an alarming prospect for liberal activists and Democratic senators.

The 85-year-old judge made national headlines this week when she missed oral arguments for the first time in her 25 years on the nation's highest court.

If Ginsburg, who was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President Bill Clinton, were to vacate her seat, Trump would have the opportunity to give the Court its largest conservative majority in decades.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is expected to miss a second week on the bench as she recovers from surgery last month to remove cancerous nodules in her lung, a court spokeswoman said Friday.

"Justice Ginsburg will continue to work from home next week and will participate in the consideration and decision of the cases on the basis of the briefs and the transcripts of oral arguments".

Politico reported that the White House stirrings came in response to Ginsburg being out of the office.

Agree with her judicial philosophy or not, nobody can deny that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one tough lady. Seated from left: Associate Justice Stephen Breyer, Associate Justice Clarence Thomas, Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts, Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Associate Justice Samuel Alito Jr.

Like the liberal civil rights icon Marshall, who retired for health reasons during the George H.W. Bush presidency, Ginsburg has been the subject of much adulation on the Left, including books, speaking tours and a recent Hollywood biopic.

In any event, numerous judge names that have been floated so far are women: Amy Coney Barrett, Joan Larsen, Amul Thapar, Raymond Kethledge, Britt Grant; Thomas Hardiman, and Neomi Rao.

Kavanaugh denied the allegations unequivocally and Trump stood by his nominee.

Kavanaugh was confirmed by the Senate 50-48 on October 6.
