Singer R. Kelly arrives at the 41st American Music Awards in Los Angeles, California November 24, 2013.

R Kelly has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct and abusive treatment of women and underage girls, including those that there uncovered in the recent documentary Surviving R Kelly. This ban is significant considering the fact that Kelly has been celebrated as one of the biggest artists to rise from the city.

"Surviving R. Kelly", the product of more than 50 interviews, aired over a span of five days earlier this month and pulled in an average of 2 million viewers per installment.

Activists from the #MeToo and #MuteRKelly social media movements have seized on the renewed attention to call for streaming services to drop Kelly's music and promoters not to book any more concerts.

A tip that Kelly was holding two women against their will prompted Chicago police to visit his residence Friday in Chicago's Trump Tower.

Responding to Facebook commenters challenging the decision, Watts wrote that the station "passes NO judgment on anyone".

Even as he denied the allegations, Greenberg said he didn't know details about them.

Steve Greenberg, an attorney for Kelly, said in an interview on Friday that there was no evidence to support the accusations contained in the documentary, calling it a "for-profit hit piece full of falsities, full of mistakes".

"The police found nothing because there's nothing wrong", he said. Cook County prosecutors indicted Kelly on child pornography charges for allegedly filming himself having sex with a girl estimated to be as young as 13, but a jury acquitted him of all charges in 2008.

"Now, some producer went running around and solicited all these people, did a Jerry Springer-esqe show and there is all this uproar", he said.
