People are speedrunning the Resident Evil 2 Remake demo

The release of the Resident Evil 2 remake is creeping closer and closer, and soon you'll get a taste of the action.

In case you cannot play the demo right now, but still want to know how the remake differs from the original in the first few sequences, you can check out a brand new video shared by YouTube user Cycu1 which puts the remake and the original side-by-side. Thus, we have the burgeoning, likely short-lived, idea of speedrunning the thing.

The Resident Evil 2 Remake demo has a January 11 release date, and will be available until January 31.

The Resident Evil 2 demo download size is 7.91GB according to a listing on the Australian PS Store. You won't be able to play it without an Internet connection.

Capcom explains more: "If players complete the mission objective under 30 minutes, they can restart the mission until they use up their full time". Instead, it sports an over-the-shoulder view like Resident Evil 4, which many believe to be the best game in the franchise.

In the run up to the launch of the demo, Capcom has released a selection of tips and tricks to get you through. Currently, though, at the moment there is no real official way to replay the demo. However, finishing the demo will unlock a special new trailer for users to watch. You can maximize this by creating multiple accounts on the PS4 and Xbox One, too.

It was recently revealed that the Resident Evil 2 Remake demo has an interesting gimmick attached.
