Alamance, Guilford and Forsyth are among several counties under a winter storm warning Saturday.

Later in the day Sunday, parts of the area could see more of a wintry mix that could cause totals and ground conditions to change. Additional snow accumulation will average one to two inches with isolated higher amounts.

This might not come as welcome news if you are among those visiting from Los Angeles: The forecast calls for bitter cold, with the possibility of snow on the horizon.

Areas of northwest IN, including Michigan City and Gary, reported between 4 and 6 inches of fresh snow on Saturday, the weather service said. We will continue the warm up on Tuesday with highs potentially reaching the upper 30s in the metro. For Saturday, the snow will gradually become more scattered into the afternoon. The high temperature Sunday is expected to be 40 degrees.

Saturday night: A chance of snow, mainly after 10 p.m.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Wind: N/S Light.

Snowfall pushed through the Chicago area until early Sunday, dropping just under 4 inches on the city. North wind around 5 miles per hour becoming calm in the morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place for Cook, DuPage, Kane, DeKalb, Kendall, Grundy and LaSalle and Will Counties in IL and all of Northwest Indiana until 3 a.m. Sunday.
