The Accidental Prime Minister is based on a book by the same name written by Sanjaya Baru found itself embroiled in many controversies before its release. With the great opening weekend on box office Uri: The Surgical strike becomes the first hit of the year 2019. The film is directed by debutant Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under his banner RSVP Movies. Aditya Dhar, who is both the writer and director of the film, has been praised by both critics and audiences for Uri: The Surgical Strike.
