With Pep Guardiola explaining the complicated nature of his injury at a press conference, he was then asked why Mendy was now in Hong Kong.

"Wow. I didn't know it". I didn't know it. F***, he's a lucky guy!

At his Friday press conference Guardiola was bemused by suggestions Mendy might be in Hong Kong.

When asked about Mendy's post, Guardiola said: "Wow, I didn't know".

Mendy responded by saying: 'Every time I am with my phone I am on Instagram or Twitter and [so] now I need to be careful.

Speaking about Mendy's injury, Guardiola said: 'Benjamin Mendy is injured and it's not easy.

Pep continued: "Yesterday he was in Barcelona".

The reporter then informed Guardiola his player had posted that he was in Hong Kong.

Mendy was in trouble earlier this season when he was late for a rehabilitation session at the training ground, having been at boxing match in London the night before.

Questioned further on whether he would be alright with Mendy making such a long trip, he said: "No, definitely not". Guardiola also responded to Aleksander Ceferin after Uefa's president claimed City lacked class for failing to attend a meeting this week regarding VAR.

Meanwhile, Guardiola rejected suggestions that Liverpool are feeling the pressure after back-toback draws saw them drop below City at the top of the table. "In the last three years they won and the best team in Europe in the last decade is Real Madrid".
