The Walking Dead is set to return for the second half of season nine on Sunday, which will herald the arrival of the Whisperers. On Saturday, AMC released the first photos from Season 5 of the Walking Dead spin-off series, featuring a fresh look at Dwight.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Michonne actor Danai will bow out of the show in the upcoming season ten.

The exodus continues: Danai Gurira is leaving The Walking Dead.

According to the report, the "Black Panther" star and playwright will pop up in what they're calling "a limited capacity - described as only a handful of episodes" for her final season. It is likely that she will segue into the three TWD film spin-0ffs opposite Andrew Lincoln, who plays her character's love interest, Rick Grimes.

Her exit comes after what's been reported as "prolonged negotiations" with AMC, the company who produces the show, which is broadcast in Ireland on RTÉ 2. Right now, she's got a lot of opportunities and she needs to weigh what she feels is best for her. "But we certainly would want her on the show as long as she wants to be on it", Madden said. The announcement of her departure strikes another massive blow to the hit series after Andrew Lincoln left late a year ago. "We really want her to stay".

This is a developing story, and we'll be sure to keep you posted on Gurira's future with The Walking Dead and her other projects in the future. "She is an incredibly valuable character and I'm really hoping she stays", he added.

Speaking of the big screen, Danai Gurira is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having appeared in Black Panther and Infinity War. She's also set to star in Godzilla vs Kong in 2020.
