The prospect of an OTT service to house competitions and content outside of the flagship Champions League and Europa League club competitions was first raised by Uefa marketing director, Guy-Laurent Epstein, in September.

"I would like to thank again my esteemed colleagues at ECA for trusting me to represent them on the UEFA Executive Committee", said Al-Khelaifi in a statement sent to AFP. Infantino said a decision could be postponed.

Ceferin told UEFA's 55 member associations who elected him unopposed that "with unity restored" he was taking over with "fewer doubts and less scepticism than back then".

The row over FIFA's controversial plans for a new Club World Cup and global Nations League has intensified, after UEFA's president pulled no punches in a searing attack on the proposals in front of his counterpart.

Ceferin said UEFA would "rigorously defend" their members' concerns over the worldwide calendar, backed by Andrea Agnelli, president of Italian champions Juventus and the ECA, with whom UEFA signed an agreement on Wednesday. "It is a fact".

UEFA has warned clubs thinking about leaving the Champions League that they would "no longer be great" but praised the FIGC for its handling of racism.

Ceferin on Thursday vowed there would never be a breakaway European Super League during his term in office. European soccer officials fear that would devalue the Champions League and widen a wealth gap which can unbalance domestic leagues. "My answer is no", said Ceferin.

Ceferin acknowledged being relatively unknown when he was elected to replace Michel Platini, the France great who was banned by the Federation Internationale de Football Association ethics committee for financial irregularities.

The Slovenian lawyer, who was named as one of SportsPro's ten influencers for 2019, took over as Uefa president in 2016 after France's Michel Platini stepped down from the role.

Ceferin says "a leader without doubts is a delusional and unsafe leader". "I am the president of UEFA, a UEFA that can be proud of its past and confident about the future".
