Russell Westbrook Notches 10th Straight Triple Double, Passes Wilt Chamberlain for NBA Record

Westbrook had 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 15 assists in the game.

Chamberlain's record of nine consecutive triple-doubles had stood for 51 years before Westbrook eclipsed the National Basketball Association legend.

It was Westbrook's 23rd triple-double of the season and the 127th of his career.

George, on the vibe in the arena as Westbrook tried to set the triple-double record: "It just felt incredible. I think a lot of the things he does that he gets attention for in terms of the triple-doubles are things that impact winning for our team". "But [Westbrook] told the situation, so it was cool to be on the other end of the triple-double".

After the game, Westbrook downplayed his latest feat.

"There is no other person who has led in triple doubles year after year".

After Westbrook drained the 3, he and George met at midcourt, jumping and celebrating together.

"I'm just excited for Russell", George said during his post-game on court interview.

Westbrook figured he might as well get a different kind of assist. All night long, George was relentless in his attack, slashing downhill into the lane, giving the ball up when double teamed and dancing behind screens for three-pointers.

Chamberlain's nine-game streak closed out the 1967-68 season, as the Hall of Fame center averaged 26.7 points, 23.7 rebounds, and 12.2 assists over that span. "It felt incredible. The energy was awesome". Go out and compete every night and leave it on the floor, and whatever happens, happens.

George poured in a magnificent 47 points, laid on 10 assists and took 12 rebounds. Players can come out and give 20-plus minutes out of the blue like Felton and Burton did tonight, but it's very rare in locker rooms for players to feel empowered to come in and brim with supreme confidence for each of those minutes.
