Toronto Raptors to sign veteran point guard Jeremy Lin

This would be a good addition for the Raptors as Lin can come off the bench and provide some much-needed depth behind Kyle Lowry and Fred Van Vleet who have had missed time with injuries. The Air Canada Centre fans, many of whom were there to witness the so-called Linsanity, erupted in a mix of disbelief and delirium.

Lin is earning $12.5 million in his first season with the Hawks. The video of his memorably buzzer-beater in Toronto made the social media rounds.

"In an Instagram post on Tuesday (AEDT), the veteran thanked the Atlanta Hawks for helping him become himself again and said he's "hyped" to join the Raptors before signing off with "#WeTheNorth" and "#NeverDone". They recently traded Delon Wright, one of their backup guards, in a deal that brought in Marc Gasol from the Grizzlies.

VanVleet will wear a splint for the next three weeks before being re-evaluated. He fits the style of play I think Nick wants to play. You saw him guard Dwyane Wade in the playoffs.

Appearing in 51 games for Atlanta this season, the 30-year-old is averaging 10.7 points, 3.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds per contest, shooting 33.3 per cent from three-point range while playing 19.7 minutes a game.

Atlanta was Lin's seventh team in his career.

The plan to enter into an agreement with Lin comes one day after the Raptors finalized the conversion of two-way player Chris Boucher's contract to an National Basketball Association standard contract.

The Brooklyn Nets dropped a thriller in Toronto as the Raptors' Kawhi Leonard banked in the game-winner with 4.2 seconds remaining to hand the Nets a 127-125 loss.

But Crabbe later hit back-to-back 3-pointers to tie the game with 1:34 remaining at 120. He's been part of three previous playoff runs, in 2013 and 2014 with Houston and in 2016 with Charlotte.
