Osaka's agent confirmed to AP that Osaka would no longer be working with Bajin, the 2018 WTA Coach of the Year, but said there would be no further comment. Under Bajin's tutelage, she held her first title in at Indian Wells in March a year ago and made her major breakthrough at Flushing Meadows by defeating Serena Williams in the final. "I thank him for his work and wish him all the best in the future", Osaka tweeted.

Noami Osaka dropped a bomb on Monday announcing that she and coach Sascha Bajin split.

He responded to Osaka's tweet by replying: "Thank you Naomi I wish you nothing but the best as well".

"Thanks to my team, I don't think I would have made it through this week without you", she said after her Australian Open triumph.

Osaka hired Bajin before the 2018 season.

Osaka, who grew up in the US and speaks little Japanese, melted hearts when she fought back tears after her emotional US Open win over her idol Williams as booing echoed around the stadium.

Just two weeks ago, the 21-year-old Haitian-Japanese tennis star won her second straight major title, the Australian Open. He is a former hitting partner of Grand Slam champions Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki. She has dual citizenship and now is based in Florida.
