OnePlus Shall be Exhibiting off a 5G Prototype at MWC

A few days ago, OnePlus sent out media invites for its event during Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. In case the 5G enable smartphone is in fact launched before the OnePlus 7, it can be assumed that the phone may bear features influenced by the OnePlus 6T, which was the company's latest smartphone to be release previous year.

OnePlus has been teasing its first 5G smartphone for quite some time. This year, aside from the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T, there's also the company's 5G handset.

OnePlus, at Qualcomm's booth (Hall 3 Stand 3E10), invites all to connect and communicate with our community over a 5G network.

At CES 2019, Qualcomm had a handful of prototype handsets on its booth including one from OnePlus' parent company Oppo, labelled as the Find X 5G.

The key growth driver for the brand in U.S. during the quarter was its partnership with one of the biggest network carriers, T-Mobile during the launch of OnePlus 6T. The statement makes it seem that OnePlus is more likely going to show off the phone's 5G capabilities rather than the phone itself. It is expected that this phone will be offered as a separate model to the inevitable OnePlus 7 flagship refresh, which should also be based on the Snapdragon 855 SoC.

The device is expected to arrive in the United Kingdom first on EE, as CNET reported back in December, as early as the end of May.

"We definitely have 5G planned for next year", Pei boasted, adding: "We will be the first, if not one of the first partners with Qualcomm to commercially launch 5G globally".
