The news was announced on Twitter by Tannehill's agents at SportsTrust Advisors.

Ryan Tannehill has a new home. The Dolphins are receiving a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and a 2020 fourth-round pick.

Tannehill, in all likelihood, was going to be released by the Dolphins this offseason, pending what they could figure out in the quarterback market. Tennessee has signed the 30-year-old signal caller to a one-year deal that is reportedly worth $7 million in fully guaranteed money, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Dolphins sent Tannehill and a 2019 sixth-round pick to Tennessee. The only two on the depth chart are Luke Falk, a rookie from Washington state; and Jake Rudock, a three-year veteran out of MI. Teams who are contenders are looking to add big-time talent to their team, while those who feel like they don't have a shot are offloading their talent in hopes of getting a better draft pick next season. The belief is Miami might be willing to eschew taking a quarterback in the first round this year in order to set itself up to take one in next year's draft.

Tannehill will back up Marcus Mariota at quarterback.
