Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill part of police investigation in Overland Park

The Kansas City Star is reporting that Chiefs' wideout Tyreek Hill was named in a police report concerning the alleged abuse of a minor. Espinal has reportedly been in contact with the Overland Park police about the alleged incident.

The Chiefs said at the time they had vetted Hill and were comfortable with their decision, and they put safeguards that included counseling and other checks they hoped would keep Hill on the right path. The Star obtained a police report from the Overland Park (Kansas) Police Department listing a juvenile as the victim, and a source told the Star the incident was against Hill's son and resulted in a broken arm.

"The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill", the team said in a statement.

Chiefs spokesman Ted Crews said Friday the team has been in contact with local authorities and the National Football League as it gathers more information but declined further comment. "We will have no further comment at this time". It's also worth noting that no arrests have been made as of this moment.

As of Friday afternoon, Hill has not been charged with a crime.

As part of his plea agreement for the domestic abuse charge, Hill attended a 52-week batterer intervention course and was supervised for two years. The team and the star receiver have been discussing a large contract extension that's expected to make him among the highest-paid players at his position. Hill later plead guilty to those charges in 2015. He received three years probation after his plea.

The conviction was dismissed in August 2018 and ordered to be expunged after he completed his probation requirements.

He was taken in the third round by the Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft.
