Amazon Fire TV finally gets Apple Music streaming

Amazon's third-generation Fire TV dongle was recently discontinued and replaced by the Fire TV stick 4K. It seems that Amazon doesn't have any issues with Apple putting its wireless services on any of its products.

Apple Music was made available on Amazon's Echo speakers back in December via an Alexa skill. Amazon also announced the availability of the Apple Music skill will expand to include the United Kingdom for Fire TV and Echo devices in the "coming weeks". But once it does, it's all Apple Music for you, all the time. If you have already set up Apple Music to work with your Echo speakers via Alexa, you will not be required to set it up again and Apple Music will seamlessly start working on your Fire TV devices. Late a year ago, Apple Music began streaming support for the Echo as well.

Go to the Apple Music Alexa Skill in a browser or the Alexa app.

Apple's on the offensive with services right now. At CES earlier this year, the company announced that AirPlay 2 and Homekit support will soon come to a host of smart TVs, and Samsung's TVs would even add the iTunes video store.

Apple Music coming to Fire TV is just another sign of Apple expanding the availability of its services. There's no word on when or if Apple Music will be available on Google Home.

Good news for Apple Music subscribers with an Amazon Fire TV: the music streaming service and media streaming devices now play nice together.

Meanwhile the video streaming industry is bracing itself for Apple's new video service, which is expected to be revealed at an event later this month.
