BCCI today announced the 15-man squad for World Cup 2019. The Committee of Administrators along with office bearers had decided on the date during a meeting last week.

Chief selector M.S.K. Prasad has told reporters that most of the current side picks itself and there were only a couple of spots left up for grabs for the May 30 to July 14 showpiece in England and Wales.

The Indian team squad announcement for the cricket world cup 2019 will be broadcasted on Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1HD, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD.

As for the wicket-keeping unit, Dinesh Karthik will be in while Rishabh Pant has not been included. "We went ahead with Karthik because of his experience in big matches", Prasad said while announcing the squad here.

BCCI tweeted the list of 15 players and they include: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, Vijay Shankar, KL Rahul, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami.

It is expected that the 15-man squad will have at least seven players who were part of the team in 2015 World Cup too, including skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Mahender Singh Dhoni, Bhuneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami. Pant is full of talent. Vijay Shankar also found himself in the squad and will most certainly occupy the hyped No. 4 slot.

Prasad said that Vijay Shankar, an all-rounder, provides a "three-dimensional" option to Ambati Rayudu in the number 4 position. We did give a few more chances to Rayudu.

"They hold the Champions Trophy - playing extremely well to win that, in England - so it's a series we're all looking forward to".

"The point that was discussed is that Vijay Shankar will bat at no.4 like Kedar Jadhav and we also have a role for KL somewhere at the top of the order".
