Guthrie rose to the challenge of helping her co-anchor Hoda Kotb reveal the happy news that Kotb has adopted her second child, Hope Catherine Kotb, to the complete surprise of their Today co-workers, and of course to millions of viewers at home.

She continued, "Look - in life you think maybe you've gotten what you deserve, but, man, I'm so happy she is here".

Congratulations to Hoda Kotb who has adopted her second child.

Kotb gave a sly hint that baby Hope was on the way Monday via a message posted to her Twitter account that read simply, "Choose Hope".

When Kotb's new co-host Jenna Bush Hager asked how "life with two" children is going, Kotb replied, "Oh, my gosh, you guys".

"Hoda's a momma again".

"We had Hayley downstairs, and Joel [Schiffman, Hoda's boyfriend of three years] and I were like, 'Wait; we have a present!' So we went upstairs, and came down holding her". And she was "marching around saying, 'I'm a big sister.'" She also tried "to crawl into [Hope's] bassinet".

"My God, my heart just grew", she said of the moment they handed baby Hope to her.

"Joel and I were standing there when they hand you the baby", Kotb said. "In that moment I was like, my heart just grew!" "I just can't believe it's happening, y'all". The news anchor had all but given up on having a child.

Hoda was so excited to share the news with her colleagues and couldn't contain her glee.

"Finally I said to myself one day, 'Why can't I?" You think that you're full. "But it feels totally real". "Instead of telling you, I'm going to show you something", she said.
