Antoine Griezmann confirms he is leaving Atletico Madrid

The France international's five-year stint as the standout star of Diego Simeone's side will come to a close when Atletico conclude their La Liga campaign away to Levante on Saturday.

Atletico posted a video of Griezmann delivering a farewell message to his fans.

Internationally, Griezmann has been capped 69 times by Les Bleus.

The Catalans were in hot pursuit of Griezmann past year, but the France star opted to sign a new contract with Atletico through 2023, announcing his intention in a televised special called "La Decision".

The former Real Sociedad man appeared destined to push through a move to Camp Nou during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, only to undergo a sudden change of heart as he signed a new Atleti contract through to 2023.

"Thank you very much for everything".

"I spoke with Griezmann and he said to me there was a possibility of him coming. when he made the decision, he said we could record it. I believe that is what I need".

The announcement of Griezmann's Atletico departure comes a little over two months after his fellow countryman and Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti claimed he regretted not joining the Spanish champions.

The France global has enjoyed five seasons in the Spanish capital, winning three honours including the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2018.
