Another Pokemon Mobile Game Announced, Out Now In Some Regions

From nowhere, The Pokemon Company has announced and released a new mobile game.

The game was unveiled in Japan this morning as Pokemon Scramble SP, but it's going to be known as Pokemon Rumble Rush in the West. The game's official Japanese site lists it as coming soon to iOS and Android, but it's already launched on Google Play in Australia.

The game is called Pokemon Rumble Rush, where you start as a Rattata, exploring an island, capturing wild Pokemon and battling your way around. Power gears raise a Pokemon's stats and help it with battles, and summon gears let a Pokemon temporarily summon another Pokemon for battle. You'll be able to recruit new Pokemon to your team as you play the game, but it's unknown if that's done through some kind of gacha element.

Two years ago, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company revealed a mobile game called Pokeland that seemed to borrow heavily from the Pokemon Rumble series.

Once you open the app, you'll have the option of linking it to your Nintendo account. While not a multiplayer title, discovering an island before other players will grant you the ability to name it. If you see enemy Pokémon, you can attack by just tapping the screen.

Why are they toys instead of actual Pokemon?

Once you catch a Pokemon, you can use them in battle.

Get on out there and catch 'em all!
