After a gruelling 19 months, Sonos One and Sonos Beam customers in the USA can finally gain access to the Google Assistant today.

Again, you can't use both Alexa and Assistant on the same speaker at the same time, but you can assign different Sonos smart speakers to work with different voice assistants.

Users will have to wait for updates that will enable calling, online purchases, voice match, interpreter mode, or setting routines in the Google Home app.

Although voice supporters have spread across smartphones and to automobiles and offices, they're now commonly found in the home, where folks have a tendency to use them together with smart speakers for activities like checking the weather, placing timers and playing music.

There are some Google Assistant features lacking from Sonos devices. Though you likely wouldn't do that often, as you could simply ask Google.

If you've already got an Assistant-powered smart speaker, you can use that to control a Sonos speaker too - including models which don't have native Assistant integration. Amazon's Echo devices maintain a solid lead on the marketplace, according to eMarketer; the company estimates that 63% of US smart speaker consumers will speak with an Amazon apparatus this year, in contrast to 31% that will utilize Google.

Sonos (Nasdaq: SONO) is one of the world's leading sound experience brands. With multi-room audio, you can ask Google Assistant to play your playlist on multiple Sonos speakers in your home.
