De Ligt a good fit for Barcelona, says Stam

Following their Champions League semi-final debacle against Liverpool last month, Barcelona have intensified their pursuit of De Ligt and are expected to get the deal over the line without any hiccups.

De Ligt has been a near certainty for a big money to move to one of Europe's top teams this summer, after thoroughly impressing for Ajax.

There was no need to panic as goals from Lasse Schone, Nicolas Tagliafico and a Dusan Tadic double sealed a comfortable 4-1 victory at De Graafschap. The young defender also scored a header goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg but an inspired performance from the Spurs and a hat-trick from Moura put end to Ajax's fairytale journey.

"It was awful what happened", Ajax coach Erik ten Hag told Fox Sports after goals by Lasse Schoene, Nicolas Tagliafico and Dusan Tadic (two) saw them defeat De Graafschap 4-1 yesterday morning (Singapore time) to secure a domestic double.

Feyenoord came third after winning 4-1 at Fortuna Sittard, the last game in charge for their coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

"I sometimes think: 'Take it easy; don't act like you have all the wisdom under your belt already!'"

"To say I fear the transfer window is not the right word but our players are hot right now", Ten Hag told reporters. "It was bad what happened", Ten Hag told Fox Sports.

"Next season it is going to be a lot more hard than this season". This season belongs among the best in the history of the club.

"I enjoyed the cup, the competition, the Champions League and especially the team spirit". "That we can only determine on September 1 when we know what our squad looks like".
