Pregnant Chicago woman lured to free baby clothing offer, killed, and baby cut from her womb

Hours later that same day, neighbors said the 46-year-old woman came running out of the home claiming that she had just given birth to a baby boy and that he wasn't breathing.

Mr Guglielmi said the baby remains in "grave condition".

Investigators are now speaking with several people from the southwest side home where the murder is thought to have occurred. According to Ochoa-Lopez's family, it was the missing teenager's baby, which had been cut from her body.

On the day Ochoa-Lopez went missing, the Chicago Fire Department had received a call about a newborn in distress from the home where the young mother's body was eventually found, authorities said.

Quinet's research shows that most babies survive, but far fewer of their mothers do.

She noticed that Figueroa was "preparing" for a baby in February - despite earlier having her "tubes tied" to prevent future pregnancies.

Clarisa Figueroa, 46, is one of three charged in the murder of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez.

As part of the search, police went to hospitals in the area to see if she had delivered her baby.

"She did nothing to them", said Yovani Lopez, her husband, reported the Chicago Tribune.

"With a miracle from God, we pray he will be with us", Lopez said.

Police believe Ochoa-Lopez was killed after she went to a house in response to an offer of free baby clothes. Three people were convicted.

They obtained a search warrant after DNA evidence proved the baby was related to Ms Ochoa-Lopez. He did and then hired a private investigator, who Cortes said helped find Ochoa-Lopez's vehicle near the home where her body was found.

Deenihan said detectives visited the Figueroa home last week after learning of the Facebook contact between the two women. Charges are expected to be filed Thursday afternoon. They said that one of the women who lived there, in her 40s, suddenly had a baby without ever appearing to be pregnant, according to Cortes.

"She was giving clothes away, supposedly under the pretence that her daughters had been given clothes and they had all these extra boy clothes", said Cecelia Garcia, a spokeswoman for the family.

The dark-haired 19-year-old vanished on April 23, after she made an appeal to mothers on a Facebook group called "Help A Sister Out".

Ochoa-Lopez was nine months pregnant when she was killed.

On the same day, paramedics were called to the address in the south-west of the city to attend to a newborn with breathing problems.

Guglielmi is calling it an "unspeakable act of violence".

This story has been corrected to reflect the baby as a boy.

Chicago police watch over a home in Chicago, Wednesday, May 15, 2019, where Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was found strangled and her baby cut from her womb. No charges against those in custody have been announced. "And we want justice - that's what we want", Ochoa-Lopez's father, Arnulfo Ochoa, said Thursday as he stood with other relatives outside the county's medical examiner's office, where his daughter's body was taken.

The pregnant woman, who had been reported missing three weeks ago, has been identified as Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui.

"The family has been on a roller coaster", said Ms Emma Lozano, a pastor at Lincoln United Methodist Church.
