NASA to allow tourists on ISS in 2020

NASA and ISS are working with private U.S. companies like SpaceX and Boeing to build a spacecraft named Starliner, that is capable of carrying the tourists to the worldwide space station and these companies will charge up to $58 million for the round ticket, and perks are not included in the ticket price.

The agency said Friday it looks to industry partners to drive space exploration and support NASA's ongoing LEO activities through services such as astronaut training and technology testing.

NASA said last Friday it will open up the International Space Station to business ventures including space tourism as it seeks to financially disengage from the orbiting research lab.

The agency stated that private astronauts would be able to stay on the ISS for up to 30 days.

Price tag? Tens of millions of dollars for a round trip ticket and $35,000 a night. The one space tourist section would accommodate 4 persons. Instead it will charge private companies that ferry passengers, which can pass on the costs to visitors, NASA spokeswoman Stephanie Schierholz said in an email.

NASA has big plans for its immediate future, including missions to Mars and of course the Moon 2024 effort that was completely unaccounted for in the most recent federal budget.

The tour will be provided by either Elon Musk's SpaceX via their Dragon or Boeing's CST-100 Starliner which are part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program.

If spending your holiday floating is on your bucket list, you have to wait only a year or two to book a trip on the International Space Station.

Las Vegas-based company Bigelow Aerospace is already planning to use SpaceX's rockets to deliver up to four tourists at a time to the ISS.

In addition, it is not yet clear whether tourists in space are allowed to enter all modules of the "ISS" because there are facilities and facilities of Americans, Russians, Europeans, Japanese and Canadians.

United States businessman, Dennis Tito is the first tourist to visit space in 2001.

The lucky few who can afford the costs associated with the trip won't be the first space tourists, though. Right now, the plan is for only two approved private astronauts to visit the station each year. NASA does not want to be an anchor tenant, just one of many customers.
