Officials are also urging people not to eat fruit salads or other mixes that include papayas from Mexico, and are encouraging consumers to wash and sanitize places where papayas were stored like countertops and refrigerator drawers. Throw the papayas away, even if some of them were eaten and no one has gotten sick.

Consumers in the US should not eat any Cavi brand whole, fresh papayas; however, consumers no longer need to avoid other papayas imported from Mexico. Cavi brand papayas distributed by Agroson's LLC of the Bronx, NY, would have been available for purchase by cases in the time prior to illness at these stores.
