"US!" on Wednesday as the US women's national soccer team reigned supreme once again in New York City's Canyon of Heroes.

US women's games have earned higher revenues than the men's United States of America team games, and TV ratings for the women's World Cup Final in the US were much higher than the men's finals in 2018, and far more US women's team merchandise is sold compared to the men.

While the honour has been bestowed on everyone from astronauts to record-breakers, soldiers, and world leaders, in recent decades it has more commonly been used to celebrate sports victories by teams such as baseball's New York Yankees or the NFL's New York Giants. Just like so many other Americans do when they come of age, ticker-tape parades even got their own auto. Under bright sunny skies, office workers showered the players with streams of white confetti thrown from the windows of skyscrapers lining the parade route.

"I don't think anyone on the team has any interest in lending the platform that we've worked so hard to build and the things that we fight for and the way that we live our life", Rapinoe said.

"The whole issue of them getting equal pay is something that they do in the workplace", Gibbs says. "Why not in the sports arena, as well?"

In an interview Tuesday on CNN, Rapinoe said that winning the World Cup was "huge for the lawsuit", in terms of swaying even more "public perception to our side", but that the conversation had moved past equal pay, given how her team had proved its worth.

For Rapinoe and other veterans of the US women's team, New York's Canyon of Heroes is familiar ground: They were treated to a parade there in 2015, after their last World Cup win.

The women's earning power also extends to merchandise.

Manchin said the bill was prompted out of a letter he received from WVU women's soccer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown.

Carlos Cordeiro, president of U.S. Soccer, acknowledged the tension in his speech at the parade. Hopefully, the US Soccer Federation officials, who have agreed to enter mediation talks with the players, will resolve the situation soon. It will get $4 million for winning the World Cup from Federation Internationale de Football Association, the worldwide soccer governing body. "You're excluding me, you're excluding people that look like me, you're excluding people of color, you're excluding Americans that maybe support you", she said directly to the camera. "You're tough. You don't need to do as much because your women's game is already there'".

In March, the US women's team filed a gender discrimination suit.

She's hopeful the younger generation is soaking up the message from the women's team, noting a girl about 7 years old wearing an "Equal Pay" T-shirt.

For Narcotta-Welp, the general solution is simple, especially considering what the USA women's soccer team has done for the sport. Yet as Team USA itself and many others have pointed out, the world's best female soccer players are not paid almost as much as their male equivalents in soccer or any other major sport. "At this moment, they are cultural icons and should be paid as such".
