Barcelona have signed Antoine Griezmann after they deposited the Atletico Madrid forward's €120 million buyout clause with La Liga.

In a statement, Barca revealed they had paid the 120 million euros to activate the Frenchman's release clause, adding he would sign a five-year deal that included a "buyout clause of 800 million euros". The Catalans were widely expected to make a move for the Atletico Madrid striker so the announcement did not cause much of a reaction among the football faithful. The numbers BarcaTimes highlighted on Twitter, citing Opta, speak for themselves.

But now the saga is finally over, with Griezmann being announced as Barcelona's third arrival of the summer. Spanish source AS has made the revelation, that as many as four Barcelona players could be sent the other way for Neymar.

'Atlético de Madrid considers that the deposited amount is insufficient to cover his buyout clause, since it is obvious that the agreement between the player and FC Barcelona was closed before the clause was reduced from Euro 200 million to Euro 120 million. Barca were reluctant to move for him initially due to the way he turned them down via a documentary called "The Decision" last summer.

The World Cup victor, 28, has signed a five-year deal with the Spanish giants after they activated the £107m clause in his deal with Atleti.

However, the 2018 World Cup victor spent only one more season with the Rojiblancos before announcing in May that he would be leaving the club this summer.

'It was also prior to the date on which the clause was modified the communication that the player made on 14 May announcing his disassociation from the club'. He also won the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup in that time.
