Juve are seeking to sign De Ligt for €70m.

There been speculation in Italy that the move may happen today so that De Ligt can be announced over the weekend and join Juventus on their Asian tour this summer.

De Ligt's preference was always to join Juventus despite interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Liverpool.

The 19-year-old defender further gained the attention of Juventus, after his goal through header and disciplined defending impressed the officials at the Italian club.

A short note from the club on the defender's absence read: "Awaiting a possible transfer, Matthijs de Ligt does not travel with the group".

De Ligt has agreed a reported deal worth £10.4m a season with Juve, who extended their record of successive Serie A titles to nine last season.

He was previously told by Ajax he could leave for £45m, but Ajax legend Marc Overmars was not aware of the agreement and demanded a higher figure from Juventus.

Sarri's side have already made six summer signings with Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey, Gianluigi Buffon, Luca Pellegrini and Merih Demiral all arriving, while Cristian Romero was purchased from Genoa before being loaned back.

It would also be Ajax's second big sale after Frenkie de Jong left for Barcelona in a 75 million euro deal.
