It's time for BTS to get some rest and relaxation!

The hugely successful K-pop boy band BTS are taking an extended break from the music scene to allow their members to "enjoy their normal lives as normal 20-something young men", the group's management agency has said.

BTS broke into the USA market in 2017, the first Korean group to win a Billboard music award.

Have a great break, BTS!

"We would like to announce that for the first time since their debut, BTS will be going on an official and extended period of rest and relaxation", Big Hit Entertainment, which represents BTS, wrote on social media Sunday.

The ARMY is dedicated to say the least, so the statement also asked fans to respect the privacy of RM, Jungkook, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin and V if they spot them in public and "show consideration for their need to rest and enjoy their private time off".

The break kicked off the same day following the band's performance at the 2019 Lotte Duty Free Family Concert earlier in the day. "BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have and continue to show them", their statement concluded.

"Hello. This is Big Hit Entertainment".

Some people encouraged the pop stars to relax, and some fans even insisted they should have a vacation. We feel comfortable saying they've earned some time off.

South Korean performers such as Psy - whose 2012 hit Gangnam Style became the first video to top a billion views on YouTube - have previously broken into Western markets, but none have achieved BTS' sustained success.

"I'm so more than happy that yes finally bts are going to REST they needed this so badly, I'm happy from the bottom of my heart, may they live the way they want and have great memories, I love you bts rest well have a wonderful ME time", one fan commented underneath Big Hit Entertainment's Twitter post.

For those wondering how long BTS' break will be, it's likely to be no more than two months because they have concerts scheduled for October.
