With the extent of Alisson's injury still not confirmed, Liverpool might be looking at a familiar face to help them in the meantime as the Brazilian global heals from his calf injury.

Alisson suffered a calf injury during Friday's win over Norwich City and will definitely miss the Super Cup Final with Chelsea in midweek, as well as upcoming fixtures with Southampton and Arsenal.

"Not too cool. It's a calf injury which takes him obviously out for a while", added Klopp of Alisson's injury.

'So that's a very experienced solution but in the moment when Caoimhin is back then obviously Adrian is No.1, Caoimhin probably No.2 but we have to see how then he can have some games with the U23s or U21s [so] that he gets match practice as well'.

It means close-season recruit Adrian will be between the posts when Liverpool contest the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The annual match sees the Champions League winners take on the Europa League victors from the previous season, with some viewing it is as an important game and others claiming it's little more than a glorified friendly. A prolonged absence would heighten the pressure on deputy Adrián, who left West Ham on a free at the end of last season after making 150 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, speaking after the Norwich game, insisted Adrian will prove a quality deputy for Alisson.

"We will be able to make good connections with him and I think a lot of the lads have made bonds with him already because he's such a good lad off the pitch". He's a brilliant character, a really nice lad and helped us a lot in the pre-season and now we chose to work together with him'.

Alisson's loss for an extended period would represent a blow to the club he joined from Roma in a £65million switch last summer.
