Prince Andrew was accused of groping a woman at Jeffrey Epstein's U.S. home, according to newly released court papers.

Epstein had charges relating to sex trafficking of minor girls at his homes in NY and Florida.

In a family where attention has passed in recent years to a younger, more popular generation, it was an unwelcome return to the dark allegations against an older royal whose public image is tarnished by rumors of a rocky romantic life and murky business arrangements - or in the case of his friendship with Epstein, sometimes both intertwined.

Mr Epstein was being held without bail after a judge agreed with prosecutors that he posed a danger to the community and risked fleeing the country.

The documents also list another woman named Johanna Sjoberg, then 21, who alleged that Andrew groped her at Epstein's NY townhouse.

They included fresh allegations against the Prince, with a deposition from Joanna Sjoberg saying the royal groped her breast when she was 21 at a party at Epstein's mansion, according to the Guardian.

The allegation surfaced in a cache of legal papers unsealed by a USA judge in a defamation case involving a British socialite alleged to have supplied Jeffrey Epstein with underage girls.

"It is emphatically denied that the Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with (Giuffre)".

Ms Maxwell was alleged to have procured underage girls for her then-boyfriend Epstein and his wealthy friends, but she has always denied the allegations.

The prince came under fire in 2010, after he was pictured strolling through Central Park with Mr Epstein following his release from prison.

Buckingham Palace said on Saturday this related to U.S. proceedings "to which the Duke Of York is not a party".

A picture of Epstein and Andrew strolling in Central Park, taken in 2010 but published a year later, proved damaging for the prince.

Both the Duke and Ms Ferguson, known as Fergie, choose to fly to Scotland yesterday to take refuge from the scandal.

"The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are much more relaxed about Andrew and the Duchess than they used to be".

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are also set to visit Balmoral this month, with son baby Archie.
