Man With Knife Arrested In Sydney CBD Amid Reports Of Multiple People Injured

"I looked over and he jumped onto a auto, and he had a knife and (was) covered in blood".

"I froze for probably a split second", he told the paper. He was completely fearless. "It was a scary moment, I'm sure, for a lot of people in Sydney", the driver told Channel Nine.

"I've always been that type of guy that I'll analyse it a bit and see the risk but we're also raised by good parents who were like, "Help people", and that's what we do".

The driver of the vehicle on which the man climbed said he had appeared suddenly on the street, covered in blood and brandishing a butcher's knife. Her body was found in a unit block above Clarence St Cyclery, which was forced to close after police set up a crime scene in front and behind the shop.

One woman has been confirmed injured after being stabbed in the back during the incident which occurred outside Hotel CBD on the corner of King and York Streets.

"They were significantly fearless people", Supt Wood told reporters. "The male offender was on his own and there was no other person complicit at this stage", he said Police have praised the efforts of passersby who held the attacker.
