Today, in a live-streamed keynote address from their headquarters in Cupertino, CA, Apple unveiled the newest version of their ever popular Apple Watch. The Apple Watch now holds the title of the best-selling smartwatch, and the Apple Watch 4 is the company's most elegant device yet (sitting near the top of our best smartwatch ranking). I'm not going to dwell on that too much here - we'll save that for the full review of the Apple Watch Series 5, which is coming very soon.

But the event had some good news for price-conscious consumers: With the debut of the Series 5, Apple announced it would be lowering the price of its Series 3 to $199 - a considerable price cut for an item previously associated with luxury. As far as accessories go, the Series 5 is compatible with all bands that fit previous Apple Watch models. The watch can be pre-ordered starting today itself, and will go on sale starting September 20.

Series 5 models will cost $649 for Global Positioning System only, and $799 for LTE. In addition to the new titanium option and the return of the white ceramic finish, the smartwatch is also available in stainless steel and 100 percent recycled aluminum. It comes in two brushed finishes - one sporting the natural silver color of titanium and the other - space black.

This is no doubt part of Apple's efforts to make the company more sustainable, which it also subtly touted during the presentation. The GPS+Cellular variant, on the other hand, now costs Rs 29,900. There is also a compass complication for your watch face.

Series 5 uses a low-temperature polysilicone and oxide display (LTPO), ultra-low power display driver, efficient power management integrated circuit and new ambient light sensor to ensure the best possible battery life.

The new 10.2-inch Retina display iPad has almost 3.5 million pixels and a wide viewing angle making it a vivid canvas for creative expression and flawless for immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences that take advantage of its enhanced cameras and advanced sensors. The workout app has also been tweaked to continuously show stats and exercise data. Unlike the Apple Watch Series 4, the new Apple Watch Series 5 is a minor update with no changes to the overall design of the hardware.

The Apple Watch 5 has improved the safety features in the watch with fall detection, emergency SOS, and Medical ID. Cellular models will also have built-in global emergency service calling.

Apple has teamed with a number of academic institutions and organizations for these new studies, including Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the National Institutes of Health, the University of Michigan, World Health Organization, and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Additional health and fitness features come with watchOS 6, including the new Cycle Tracking app, which gives customers the ability to log important information related to their menstrual cycles and see predicted timing for their next period and fertile windows using the convenience of Apple Watch.
