Bills-Titans preview Key matchups that could tilt the game in Buffalo’s favor

After a disappointing loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Tennessee Titans released kicker Cairo Santos and offensive lineman David Quessenberry. According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, former Bears kicker Cody Parkey is likely to be a stopgap until Succop can return.

The last time that Parkey kicked in a game, it was the NFC Wild Card Game between the Bears and Philadelphia Eagles. Williams spent the past two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos and led the CFL with 1,579 yards receiving previous year. When the game concluded, everyone knew that Parkey's job was at risk.

Santos' expected replacement is no stranger to kicking anguish. Now, it's the Titans who join the group of teams who are in dire need of a reliable placekicker. The Titans went into the season expecting Ryan Succop to be their primary kicker.

Santos is flawless on extra points so far this season, but the Brazilian has gone a paltry 4-for-9 in field-goal attempts.

Parkey, who was released by the Chicago Bears earlier this year after a missed field goal in the playoffs, had worked out for Tennessee in September. The second-year veteran from San Jose State played in the season's first four games but was inactive Sunday.

With Santos struggling to put the ball through the uprights, Mike Vrabel saw it best to start fresh with someone new.
