Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez Strowman vs Tyson Fury Officially Announced for WWE Crown Jewel 0By Mike Killam on Oct 11 2019WWE

Two-time heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has quietly retired from mixed martial arts after signing a multi-year deal with WWE, reports ESPN.

Although UFC has yet to comment publicly or confirm the news, Velasquez was removed from the promotion's heavyweight rankings and also withdrew himself from UFC's USADA drug-testing pool.

As noted, WWE announced today that Velasquez will face WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 31.

Speaking after the announcement of the fight, Fury said: "It's something I've always dreamed of, lifelong WWE fan, it's a fantastic opportunity for me to be here".

'I'm undefeated in 30 professional contests and when I go to Saudi Arabia to fight Braun Strowman I'm still going to be undefeated. Fury needed 47 stitches for multiple cuts following that 12-round bout.

Fury has said previously he could be interested in a move to WWE, telling the Dave Allen podcast in 2017 he would consider it.

Velasquez generated buzz in August when he worked a couple of shows for AAA in Mexico and he made his WWE debut last Friday night on the FOX debut for SmackDown.

Fury and Wilder are expected to do battle for the WBC heavyweight championship in February 22 but only if the Mancunian can recover from the eye injury he sustained in his clash with Otto Wallin last month.

With his departure from UFC and apparent retirement, Velasquez finishes his MMA career with a record of 14 wins and three losses.

One of the greatest UFC fighters of all-time is transitioning into pro wrestling full-time. I thanked him and the company for everything that they did.
