Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas said he was fined $21,000 by the National Football League for a blow to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph that knocked the pivot out of their Week 5 game. He'd be a desperation low-end QB2 against Los Angeles.

Rudolph appeared to be knocked unconscious when he was hit by Baltimore safety Earl Thomas in Pittsburgh's overtime loss to the Ravens on Sunday, and needed assistance from trainers and teammates while walking off the field. "He walked off the field because he chose to walk off the field, and the medical experts were comfortable with his ability to walk off the field and the safety in it", Tomlin began Tuesday. "I like his "Steady Eddie" attitude and approach to it. Do you think I'm anxious about anything other than that?"

"Mason, he's been telling me he's feeling really well", quarterback Devlin Hodges said after practice. Hodges is an undrafted rookie out of Samford who was waived by Pittsburgh after training camp.

"I have been in this thing long enough that it is all pretty much a re-run to me", Tomlin said. Samuels will be out about a month after surgery for a sprained left knee.
