Berlin's Foreign Minister said today weaponry has been banned after Turkey launched the military attack on Wednesday, days after U.S. troops pulled back from the area.

Turkey's defense officials claimed that as of Friday, their forces have killed 277 Kurdish fighters and had advanced five miles into parts of Syria.

Despite its territorial defeat, ISIS has maintained an insurgency in Iraq and Syria, carrying out suicide bombings, assassinations and ambushes.

More than 50 civilians have reportedly died on both sides of the border.

As a result of Turkish shelling and air attacks there are many civilian casualties among Kurds in Syria.

According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have already been displaced from areas under Kurdish control.

Shokry said that halting the assault on Syria is an global condition to start UN-backed negotiations aimed at settling the Syrian crisis backed.

What did the Kurds say?

Hulusi Akar said mortars were fired at Turkey's border post in Suruç district of Şanlıurfa province from a kilometre (0.6 mile) southwest of the US observation point.

Guarding those facilities has always been a strain on the SDF as it juggles multiple tasks in the volatile area.

Mnuchin said the U.S. was not yet activating the sanctions at this time, but would do so if necessary and was already in the process of notifying banks.

He warned that the Turkish operation was opening the way for IS to regroup.

What is IS doing in Syria?

ISIS separately claimed responsibility for a auto bombing in the same city. The US does not want the Kurds turning to the Russians, administration officials say.

Separately on Saturday, IS declared a new campaign in Syria, which it said was to avenge its members' detention in Kurdish-run prisons.

There are concerns that hundreds of suspected IS prisoners, including foreign fighters being guarded by Kurdish forces, may escape during the chaos. Some are reportedly close to the border, which may make them vulnerable to being hit in clashes or bombardment.

Turkey has said that pact was never implemented.

How is the offensive developing?

Ras al-Ain would be the first town to fall to Ankara's forces since the launch of its cross-border offensive on Wednesday.

Turkish-backed Syrian rebels mass outside the border town of Ras al-Ayn during their assault on Kurdish-held border towns in northeastern Syria.

Smoke rises from the Syrian town of Ras al-Ain, in a picture taken from the Turkish side of the border in Ceylanpinar on October 11, 2019.

One Army officer who has deployed to northeastern Syria and has knowledge of the situation said that multiple rounds of 155mm fire were launched from Turkey's side of the border and that they had a "bracketing effect" in which shells landed on both sides of the USA outpost. However, there is a risk they may flee amid the offensive while the SDF are fending for themselves, trying to repulse multiple ground attacks along a roughly 120-kilometre (75-mile) stretch of the border.

Aboul-Gheit warned that the Turkish offensive poses a threat to both regional and worldwide stability, urging the global community to assume responsibility to put an end to the operation.

Asked about the Observatory report that rebels had killed a total of nine civilians on the road, he gave the same answer.

On the battlefield, SDF fighters have taken mounting losses against the vastly superior firepower of the Turkish army.

What's the reaction to the operation?

Germany has halted arms exports to Turkey, a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally, and France said sanctions against Turkey would be discussed at next week's European Union summit. On Saturday, Germany announced it would stop delivery of weapons to Turkey that could be used in the operation, following the lead of the Netherlands. Germany earlier announced it was reducing its arms sales to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally.

During the phone call, Prime Minister Imran said that the government and people of Pakistan are looking forward to accord a warm welcome to President Erdogan on his forthcoming visit to Pakistan later this month. No injuries were reported among the U.S. forces.

He demanded to know whether the USA would do anything to protect Syrian Kurds, who lost 11,000 fighters battling ISIS alongside United States troops.

President Trump has suggested he would be prepared to use sanctions against Turkey if necessary.
